Assignment

A leading Swedish gaming company was looking to appoint a new CIO given the high demands on its IT department in terms of availability and security. Given the large sums of money involved, expectations were extremely high. The appointee would also have to manage an IT department of 90 people.

Solution

In addition to a traditional search to find potential candidates, the client wanted to take the opportunity to market themselves and the fact that the company was employing during the recession. We decided to advertise the position together in selected press as well as on a few niche websites (it was the most visited in one particular site). Our search produced 10 candidates, from both our own network and online applications. Hays carried out interviews and three were presented to the client.

Result

The company selected a female CIO who had previously worked in IT-intensive activities. Although she came from a different sector background, she had the right blend of skills and experience for the role.
